About the Organisation

Our client, a strong local operator, is on a clear and ambitious journey to become a coveted Employer of Choice! With more than 30 sites, and a payroll headcount of +450 employees, they are navigating an exciting period of positive change, investing heavily in ensuring their back-office functions are seamless, efficient, and supportive.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly-experienced, strategic, and collaborative Payroll Consultant to lead a dedicated Payroll Transformation project. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role focuses on continuous improvement and system optimisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to refine processes, enhance internal service delivery, and champion best practices across the organisation.

What You Will Do:

  • Navigate multiple Awards and Enterprise Agreements (EAs) to establish strong compliance frameworks and ensure ongoing, best-practice governance.
  • Optimise the current Employment Hero configuration. Refine the system to improve overall efficiency, maximise the software's capabilities, and reduce manual processing.
  • Review and enhance the end-to-end payroll lifecycle. Design and implement robust workflows that guarantee accuracy and consistency.
  • Elevate the payroll department's internal service delivery. Bring a patient, mature, and customer-first mindset to how payroll supports and interacts with 450 staff members.
  • Guide, mentor, and support a team of 2 payroll staff.

You will need:

  • Extensive experience at the Payroll Manager or Senior Consultant level, specifically leading payroll optimisation projects, system integrations, or change management initiatives.
  • Practical expertise in navigating complex Awards and EAs within large, diverse workforces.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Employment Hero and a track record of maximising its utility.
  • A highly analytical mindset with the ability to see the "big picture" while supporting day-to-day operations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills. You bring a calm, patient, and mature approach to guiding teams through change and continuous improvement.

The Offer:

  • 2-Year Fixed-Term Contract (providing the runway needed to embed lasting improvements).
  • $140,000 – $150,000 + Superannuation.
  • A meaningful opportunity to take ownership of a project that will directly support dedicated educators and contribute to an Employer of Choice vision.
